Castellammare del Golfo
Excursions, tasting sessions, sports, culture, beaches, beaches, beaches
It is impossible for this page to list the thousands of aspects of this area on the western coast of Sicily, near Trapani, and all the opportunities it offers. Here are just a few of the many ideas to make your stay even more memorable:
Mini cruises and sea excursions
Are islands near a larger island considered double islands? Discover the answer on the motorboat tour to Favignana and Levanzo: bathe in the most suggestive coves, visit the towns and taste the typical lunch aboard the boat, on this very popular tour!
Another motorboat tour, with a duration of more or less 8 hours, will take you to the colombi cave, with bathing stops by the Scopello Faraglioni, the Zingaro Nature Reserve and a leisure stop in San Vito Lo Capo
And let’s not forget the Pontoon Boat excursion, with a sunset aperitif on the waters just off Castellammare del Golfo.
Nature
Nature has been particularly generous with this area, as you will be able to observe when visiting the
Zingaro Reserve or walking along the
6 km coast which connects
Castellammare del Golfo to
San Vito Lo Capo, with the possibility of bathing in one of the marvelous natural coves.
Other fascinating visits are the excursion to the
Monte Inici caves, accompanied by guides from the Italian Alpine Club, and a trip to the
salt pans of Marsala within the Stagnone Nature Reserve.
Tasting sessions
Thanks to the
Strada del Vino Alcamo Doc Association, you will be able to visit the
food and wine landmarks
of the Castellammare gulf while following paths that are rich in terms of history and tradition. Among the most appreciated options are the
wine tours in
the wine cellars and visits to the
mill (with an Italian or English speaking guide) to taste local oils and typical products.
Culture
If you wish to discover the history and traditions of
Castellammare del Golfo, you can visit the free-entrance “Annalisa Buccellato” Ethno-Anthropological Museum. And don’t miss the nearby ancient
temple and
amphitheater, in the
Segesta archaeological area!
Sport
Another lovely way to visit these lands is by
mountain bike, and the combination of seaside and mountains offered by
Castellammare del Golfo is truly heaven on earth for those who love
sports and open air activities.
Beaches, beaches, beaches
Last but certainly not least
, the
beaches. In
Castellammare del Golfo and its surroundings you will find many options to choose from. Among the unmissable beaches, we suggest visiting
Guidaloca,
Scopello (featuring the ancient tuna fishery and the suggestive
faraglioni),
Mazzo Di Sciacca and, of course, the many coves of the
Zingaro Nature Reserve.
Thermal baths & Wellness
Do you like to relax? If so, all you need to do is travel to contrada Ponte Bagni, on the Caldo river, where various hot sulfur water pools surface at a temperature of circa 46-47°. Here you can bathe in thermal waters, in the open air, without spending a single euro!
Otherwise, you can choose the private thermal structure,
affiliated with the National Health Service, where you will find thermal pools and other wellness treatments.
In particular, the waters of the
Segesta Thermal Baths help treat the skin and to cure rheumatic and respiratory diseases.
